Apple Inc CEO Tim Cook has been briefed by Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs, on the most important developments related to the UAE Mobile Government and Smart Learning initiatives.
During the meeting, which was attended by a group of officials from both sides, prospects for cooperation were discussed on the development of advanced educational applications to lead the new sector at the regional level, and to develop an integrated UAE model that can be used by other countries in terms of education experience.
Al Gergawi stated at the end of the meeting that Apple has shown keen interest in the experience of the UAE e-transformation and the shift towards mobile services, smart education and smart cities.
The UAE integrated model on using technology in all sectors of life is a key part of the philosophy of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to create a different lifestyle in the UAE with respect to services and educational sectors, and health and economic development, added Al Gergawi.
The meeting highlighted Apple’s interest in the best M-Government service award that was launched by Shaikh Mohammed in May 2013. The results of the award are scheduled to be unveiled during the Government Summit 2014.
Al Gergawi said that the spirit of creativity and innovation is a common denominator for the UAE and Apple Inc as the UAE has set examples on rapid development, keeping up with all things new, in order to simplify people’s lives and offer better experiences to the community.
Al Gergawi said Apple is also a model of technical innovation and technological development, and both the UAE and Apple can set a great example of integration between technical and government sectors.
“The UAE leadership’s directives are clearly aligned toward establishing partnerships with global organisations, and the strategic partnership with Apple is in line with the directives of Shaikh Mohammed,” concluded Al Gergawi.
